The strangest one I think I have had was when I saw my Nana two weeks before she died......she was in a home at the time and I hadn't seen her for a few years, because I could bear to see her the way she was, any way, I hadn't been thinking about her at all or talking about her.....but I had just finished making a cuppa and was bringing through to the lounge and there was Nan sitting on the arm of the chair as plain as day, it lasted only a few seconds and she was dressed in her famous hand knitted red cardigan. a week later she was taken into hospital because of a heart attack, she never woke up and a week later she died. The day she died was the only time I had gone to visit her, she was sleeping, I said my good bye because I knew she was going to go, and sure enough 6 hrs later she was gone, it was in a strange way a wonderful moment.

Only the other week my wife and I heard a noise upstairs. now I wanted to go to the toilet and we decided to go up together (because we are indeed brave paranormal investigators). I was standing outside the bathroom door when there was a very loud bang on the bedroom door that seemed to come from the inside. There were no cats or anything in there. Needless to say I ended up in the bathroom with my wife. As I stood there I decided to close the door (like that would make a difference ! ) but, as I went to close it it felt like it was pushed towards me. My wife actually saw it happen and saw the force of it push me backwards. I couldn't have pulled it that way because my arm stayed straight on the door handle it would have bent if I'd pulled the door towards me. It was because my arm was straight that I ended up going backwards. We were a little bit spooked but to be honest when that happened I was more intrigued than anything. Problem is it isn't recorded so I have obviously started going down the route of logical explanation. Why is there never a camcorder round when you need one ? Saying that, if we'd had a camcorder filming in our bathroom people might well get the wrong idea about us!

The experience that sticks out in my mind the most, is a late night journey home from a friends house....

I was nearing one of roundabouts that took you past a power sub-station, now on approaching this I was the only one daft enough to be out that time of night in the middle of nowhere) when behind me there was a looked in the rear view mirror there was a car full of young kids. So imagination city kicks in the doors on my car were locked in an instant !! Telling myself ok Val stay cool just concentrate on the driving, while keeping an eye on the car behind. I left the roundabout and the car followed (ok was sweating by this time) then the weirdest thing happened, the car didn't actually over take me, I could still see it in the rear view mirror, yet I could actually see the back of the car in front of me and the two young lads in the back ok that's weird me thinks, your tired on a very dark country road late at night, then as we got a few more yards along the road, I noticed the car indicating right as if to over take or take a right turn, which was weird as there was nowhere to turn right into !! then the car literally disappeared.
By this time I was a little freaked, so took a few deeps breaths and decided to try and logic it out, time of night, no lights, tiredness etc and managed to continue the journey home with out feeling too shook up about it.
When I got in I explained to Anne what had happened and we decided it was probably tiredness, plus the fact it was the first time I had done that journey on my own and it was late at night, now I thought no more of it till we saw the friend I had been visiting a few days later, told her what happened and that is when I went white apparently a while back there had been a fatal car accident at the very spot where this car mysteriously disappeared, I must also add I had described the car perfectly and the young lads in it, and all four boys died in this accident.
I can honestly say I knew absolutely nothing of this accident before hand, the first I knew was when our friend had told us about it.

That journey still haunts me to this day as I just cant find an explanation for what happened that night.

One time that really spooked me was when we went to Gladbach with the school. There's the ruins of a cottage there that was supposed to be the home of a witch. It was said that when she died she put a curse on the place and would watch over the place as an owl. When we walked around the area (in the day) there was this massive old tree hanging over the ruins and in the tree there was a living owl. That freaked us out but it was even stranger later. A group of our class performed Macbeth that night in the ruins of the place which seemed kinda sick to me at the time. We took loads of pictures of them performing it and when they were developed the only thing that were on the pictures was a fire and a swan, neither of which were present at the time - the people in my class, the ruins etc were all missing!

An experience I will never forget for as long as I live was when I was nursing my son, he was about 2 months of age and obviously was being fed as and when and this meant 2am pit stops as such. I was wide awake after caring for him and was just kinda of sitting up propped against the headboard after settling him down. I just happened to look across the room, and as plain as day my mother was standing there just smiling at me. Before my brain as such had time to react she seemed to whiz towards the door and vanish. The way she moved was very odd, like as though I was watching a speeded up film. Trace affects as such.

My mother then had been passed about 5 years earlier. I wasn't thinking about her infact I wasn't thinking of much at all at that time in the morning. It was all very odd, but very reassuring.

Another experience I have had was one day I was putting my shopping away in the cupboards after the usual delightful trip to Asda's. I was bending down putting the tins away and as I stood up, This guy was running towards me. As silly as it seems I screamed, like when someone jumps out at you from the dark. But there was this guy, running towards me and kinda disappeared when he ran into me.( I didn't feel any impact by he way) There was no one in the house but me, all very weird.

From About a year or two ago, my brother and his wife took their four boys and moved into a cheap trailer in the country (please don't make fun. He had low income and there's nothing wrong with living in a trailer).

Well the trailer was on an old battle ground alone with only one other. Their only neighbours were friendly and they had six young boys. Their children and my nephews always played and got along, so my brother Sean, was happy with living there.

Sean and the neighbours, John, got along well, and they'd spend nights together, sitting outside looking at the country and drinking. Sean and John loved to make jokes about expecting to see ghosts of old, dead soldiers from the war, since they lived on the battlegrounds. But Sean didn't think ghosts were real.

Anyway, it was ironic that the men would always joke about it, because one day, a few weeks after they'd moved in, Amber (Sean's wife) was putting the second oldest boy to sleep for his afternoon nap. The oldest boy was in school, and the babies were already asleep in the living room. Well Brice (the second oldest) was lying in Sean and Amber's bedroom, trying to go to sleep (Brice was about four years old at this time) when Amber heard him start to cry. She ran into the room and lay beside him and asked him what was wrong?. He just started shaking his head frantically and his eyes began to widen. He was looking straight up at the ceiling, as if something were there. Amber told me that he looked terribly frightened, as if someone were actually hovering above him. Suddenly his eyes closed and he passed out. She thinks it was out of fear. I don't doubt that.

Well just a few seconds after that, there was loud bangs going off outside, like gunshots. She looked out the bedroom window and said that she actually saw soldiers in the fields shooting at each other... And she said that she saw men bleeding, suffering and dying from shotgun wounds. She said she saw those men, as if they were there. Then Brice screamed and she turned to look at him. He was behind her crying out in fear again, also peering out the window. When she looked out the window the fields were empty, the men weren't there anymore. She was terribly scared, so she took Brice and the babies out to the van and started the engine.

She was going to leave but when she looked back in the rear view mirror she saw a little boy staring at her from behind the van. He looked like one of the neighbours' boys but when she honked the horn he disappeared, just vanished into thin air. That's when she put the van into reverse and hauled out of there. She told my brother and he said it was a big lie. That maybe she was tired and seeing things. He didn't believe her...not until he heard marching in his living room on Veterans' Day. lol. That's the day he decided to move out of there

Thanks for sharing that with us Val, there really are some things that just cant be easily explained. But moments like this, no explanation is needed really is it.

Best wishes- The Esoteric Team
